Argosy

An Argosy of 215 Sqn RAF dropping two 1 Ton containers at Kangar Kahang DZ, Malaysia.

Touch-down

215 Sqn Argosy RAF 'Erks' towing a 215 Sqn Argosy aka 'the whistling wheelbarrow or the more rude 'flying tit', from Changi eastern dispersal towards the western dispersal.

The building seen beyond the Argosy's nose is where Lt. General A.E. Percival was held by the Japanese following the Capitulation of Singapore on 15th February 1942.

Three Beverleys of 34 Sqn over Singapore. This photograph was taken on the occasion of the squadron moving from Changi to Seletar.

The bridge shown is the Merdeka (Freedom) Bridge which carries the Nicoll Highway over the mouth of the Kallang River. This view would be totally unrecognisable today. Where the boats are is now reclaimed land, and many of the buildings in the photograph have been demolished and the area redeveloped.

XM112 beyond a Pembroke On the pan at Labuan in early 1966 is XM112 0f 34 Sqn. XM112 is rigged for heavy-drop and was photographed from the tail boom of another Beverley.

Load gone. Two containers have been despatched. The parachute rigging lines can be seen being pulled from the parachute bag beyond the container which is starting to fall away from the aircraft. One-Ton Containers would be dropped two at a time if the dropping zone was large enough.
