An Argosy of 215 Sqn RAF dropping two 1
Ton containers at Kangar Kahang DZ, Malaysia.
RAF 'Erks' towing a 215 Sqn Argosy aka 'the
whistling wheelbarrow or the more rude 'flying tit', from Changi eastern
dispersal towards the western dispersal.
The building seen beyond the Argosy's nose is
where Lt. General A.E. Percival was held by the Japanese following the
Capitulation of Singapore on 15th February 1942.
Singapore from 'Far East Mansions' River Valley
Road. A late 1960s photograph. Those with a thirst will remember that
the Tiger Breweries were located on River Valley Road in those days.
Three Beverleys of 34 Sqn over
Singapore. This photograph was taken on the occasion of the squadron
moving from Changi to Seletar.
The bridge shown is the Merdeka (Freedom)
Bridge which carries the Nicoll Highway over the mouth of the Kallang
River. This view would be totally unrecognisable today. Where the boats
are is now reclaimed land, and many of the buildings in the photograph
have been demolished and the area redeveloped.
On the pan at Labuan in early 1966
is XM112 0f 34 Sqn. XM112 is rigged for heavy-drop and was photographed
from the tail boom of another Beverley.
In the foreground is a Pembroke.
Another shot of XM112 on the pan at
Labuan.
An RCT Air Despatch Crew Commander
standing by a One-Ton Container.
Load gone. Two containers have been
despatched. The parachute rigging lines can be seen being pulled from
the parachute bag beyond the container which is starting to fall away
from the aircraft. One-Ton Containers would be dropped two at a time if
the dropping zone was large enough.

to the airstrip at Bareo.
