On Sunday 7th October 2007 – members of the IRELAND Branch of the NMBVA  attended the Dedication of  its Standard,  at Saint George’s Parish Church Belfast. The Branch Standard Bearer being Mr Thomas Henry Weir RAF.

 Branch President George Fleming RN assisted by Chairman (Temp) Nigel Coulter RAF, welcomed a number of VIP Guests including the Deputy Lord Lieutenant: General Officer Commanding Northern Ireland: High Sheriff of Belfast and Mayor of Lisburn.

 The Service was conducted by Branch Chaplain  Rev. Dr. James Moore RN assisted by the Rector of St George’s  Rev. Brian Stewart  and the Rev. Father Stephen McBrearty. 

Branch Ceremonial Advisor, Ron Moore led and Act of Remembrance, ably assisted by Branch Piper Terry Kingham and Trumpeter Len Duddy.

 A collection , taken by local Army and Navy Cadets, raised the sum of £446 for ex Service Charities. 

Following the Service, the Lord Lieutenant and G.O.C. Northern Ireland complemented all who organised and participated in the event. The Rector of St George’s has extended an open invite for the Branch to return.

The committee wishes to thank those members who supported the branch today. I am happy to announce The Mayor of Lisburn has invited NMBVA back again next year.
