WHAT'S NEW THIS WEEK
| Do you live in Malaysia and could assist Novista, a Kuala Lumpur-based documentary maker, is currently producing a film on the Malayan Emergency for the History Channel. As such, we are trying to get in touch with plantation workers and soldiers who were based in Malaya during that time, 1948-1960. We are hoping to locate people who are still alive who can share their personal stories of what happened and what it was like fighting/working/living during that era. Please contact Effa Desa effa@novista.tv |

Warning we have received advice on the cleaning of
medals from the manufacturer who recommend that Brasso and other abrasive
substances should not be used to clean medals the PJM in particular. A
special cloth like Goddard's silver cloth or similar should be used. If it
does become necessary a cleaner such as silver wadding carefully
administered should only be used.

PINGAT JASA MALAYSIA MEDAL UPDATE 17/08/2009 THIS PROCESS IS TAKING UP TO 3 YEARS OR MORE FROM YOUR APPLICATION FORM BEING RECEIVED. THE MALAYSIAN HIGH COMMISSION IN LONDON HAVE NOT HAD ANY MEDALS SINCE MAY 08 BUT ARE HOPEFULL THAT A NEW SHIPMENT WILL ARRIVE IN 2009. THEY HAVE BEEN ADVISED THAT THERE WILL BE 6000 MEDALS FOR THIS YEAR AND ANOTHER 6000 MEDALS NEXT YEAR. I SPOKE WITH THE MALAYSIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER ON SATURDAY AND HE IS NOW AWARE OF HOW MANY ARE STILL WAITING FOR THE MEDAL SO IS GOING TO ASK IF THE AMOUNT CAN BE INCREASED. WITH OVER 16,000 STILL WAITING FOR THIER MEDALS THE PRIORITY WILL BE THOSE THAT APPLIED IN 2006 AND HAVE NOT RECEIVED THEIR MEDAL, ONCE THE MEDALS HAVE BEEN RECEIVED BY THE MHC IN LONDON.
FRED HAS REQUESTED THAT YOU DO NOT PHONE HIM ON A SUNDAY. |
