GREETINGS
FROM CANADA
![]()
Greetings
to you all from Canada. The NMBVA here is continuing to
prosper but due to the
size of Canada (it is 4600kms Victoria to Toronto & 7800kms Vic. to St
Johns), getting everyone together for a function is difficult to say the least.
We are strongest here on Vancouver Island & the Vancouver
City area.
One of
things we have to do is get the members in central Canada (Ontario & Quebec)
more involved & build up the membership back there.
I am
planning on working through our Royal Canadian Legion magazine (RSL to you
Aussies & Royal British Legion to the Poms) to try to track down all the ex-pats
who are not members - hopefully a few notices & letters will help. If we can
get enough we could have a 2nd branch back in central/eastern Canada.
This
photograph (2002 Vintage) will give you the chance to see what a handsome bunch
of young men we are. It was taken
at a 'Merdeka Day' Celebration hosted by the Malaysian High Commission.

About 150
people all told there - Diplomatic Corps, Malaysian businessmen & citizens
living in Vancouver area & Canadian businesses with strong links to
Malaysia. Entertainment was put on, with great food including plenty of
Malaysian dishes & cheese & crackers for the timid!
Recently we
had our AGM and now have a new President - Ken McNicoll ex Royal Lincolnshire
Regt. who served in Sumatra & Malaya 1946 to late 1947. His
email address is:

Your truly, (Brian Kelly, the token Colonial) is in the merged
Secretary/Treasurer position.
We are
always pleased to hear from fellow veterans world wide

So
from all of us this side of the pond -
we wish you good health and may you down many a tiger.
