Pte Catling and Cpl G Tullis outside the Smoke House Inn armed with Mk5 short Lee Enfield Rifles.
At that time there was a lull in terrorist activities and we were allowed to wear civilian clothing whilst off duty, but we had to go out in parties of no less than 5 armed men.
This concession was withdrawn when Terrorist activities resumed and we were restricted to the station lines and Tanah Rata when off duty

These falls were in the Jungle not far from our station lines at Tanah Rata
 At 4,700 feet above sea level the water was clean and cool
Any service personnel making use of them had to be in a party of no less than ten men
 fully armed and with no more than five men in the pool at anytime.
The others had to stand guard in the Jungle.

Four of the six Nissen Huts used as living Quarters by No3 Company RASC (General Transport)  “A” Platoon and Workshops Section which became a REME LAD in June 1951.

 

To the present time 2004 they are now used by Backpackers .
