NMBVA held their 1st annual Memorial Service
Parade at the Nottingham War Memorial situated on the Trent Embankment
Nottingham on Saturday the 10th of June at 1.0pm and was well attended by
members and their guests, the weather was a perfect 78 degrees, we were
able to stand in the shade of the arch where the Branch Memorial Plaque is
sited and enjoy the relative coolness
The Service was led by the Branch Chaplain the Revd.
Bernard Ward-the Exhortation was given by the Branch President Harry
Griffith-Frank Whittall gave the Kohima Epitaph and Peter LeProvost took
the Salute at the sounding of the Last Post-there were two excellent
Buglers present on the Parade-John Hollis acted as Parade Marshall.
Members and guests attended a lively and well
presented buffet ,donated by Branch Associate member Mrs Fay Hollis, at
the Toll Bridge Inn situated nearby on the Embankment-despite the
competition of the England football match the the event was a total
success and it is intended to hold one annually
