David Davies photos, a S/Sgt in 13 Infantry Workshop REME.  The photos were taken in 1956 and show the recovery of a 15/19 Hussars Saracen which had ended up down a ravine following the collapse of the road.   It was necessary to reduce the weight by removing the wheels and suspension, then dragged along the river bed to a spot where a temporary ramp was cut from the road down to the river.  The wreck was loaded onto a trailer and taken back to the Workshop.  The job took 3 days and Gurkhas provided a cover guard.

Fatal accident on Kota Tinggi Road
Car skidded into army truck during heavy rain storm

Another accident   - The Scammell had recovered a trailer near Segamet and was returning to Kluang with it on suspended tow, when it got a puncture in the offside front tyre.  Not fitted with power steering, all the driver could do was to pull over to the right verge and get a message to the workshop for some assistance.  It was getting dark so the side lights were on.  The crew were in the cab and could see in the distance a logging truck approaching them quickly.  At the last moment thinking the Scammell was coming towards them it moved over  - Crunch!!  A good job it was unloaded.
