60th ANNIVERSARY OF DECLARATION OF EMERGENCY

 

Dear Comrades and Family Members,

 

In June 2008, on the 60th Anniversary of the Declaration of the EMERGENCY, there is a proposed visit to MALAYSIA to attend the Service to remember those who gave their lives in that theatre of Operations and then to have a holiday on the Island of PENANG.

 

The BATU GAJAH ceremony is scheduled for the 14th JUNE 2008 and I would urge all members who have advised me of their intention to attend this Service and also those who did not make the trip in 2007 to contact ANDY, our Travel Agent on the following number:-

 

 

The visit will consist of Air Travel from the UK, most probably from London Heath Row to KL or to SINGAPORE and then on to PENANG, where we will transfer to IPOH for three days for the Service at BATU GAJAH and then return to PENANG, to the same Hotel we had last year  The Paradise Sandy Beach.

 

Air Fares are currently around £700.00 per person and the room rate per person is circa £25-30 per day.

 

I will be making definite pricing in the next few weeks.

Ground arrangements

13June                 On  arrival   KLIA Airport we will be met by our  local  representatives  and  transferred  by  coach  to IPOH

13-16 June              3  nights SYUEN Hotel- IPOH  in  Superior  rooms  with  daily  breakfasts

14 June                 Transfer  after  breakfast  by  coach  to  BATU GAJAH  on  return  to IPOH have  stop  for  GURKHA  Ceremony *

16 June                 Transfer after  breakfast  to  Penang  with  enroute  stop  at  TAIPING 

16-27 June              11  nights   PARADISE SANDY  BEACH hotel Penang  in Paradise  1  bedroom  suites (upgraded  from  studio rooms)

                        breakfast  included  **

27 June                 Transfer  from  hotel  to  PENANG  airport

 **      At  Paradise  hotel Penang  the  duration  is  11  nights  but  you  are  only  paying  for  8  nights 

Costs

The  rate  per  person  to  include  all  flights, taxes, transfers  and 14  nights  accommodations  with  breakfasts  will  be  £998.00 (based  on  2  persons  sharing  hotel rooms)

Supplements

Single  room  occupancy  at  both  hotels  would  be  an  extra  £196.00

At  Ipoh    if  you  upgraded  to a  deluxe  room category  the  charge  would  be  £15.00      (£30 for  single)

If  anyone  wants  extra  nighs  in  Penang   at Paradise Sandy  Beach  the  rate  per  night  including  breakfast  will  be  £22.00  pp  based  on  2  share

I  can also  give  a  nightly  rate  in Kuala Lumpur  if  anyone  want  to  stay  there  before  returning  to UK    At  Corus  Hotel  the  cost  is  £29.00  per  person  inc  breakfast  and  at   Equatorial  hotel  £35.00  per  person   (both  on  twin  share)   rates  double  for  single  occupancy..

 The  rates  are  all  subject  to availability  at  time  of  booking-   I  would  ask  that  you inform  your  members  to  initially  make  requests  to  me  via  email   at  andy@emerald.co.uk
